After a long week preparing for the laundry room reveal post. I wanted to relax today and work on a craft project. So, I decided to design this cute macrame using a piece of driftwood that was a gifted to me from a friend. I thought is was the sweetest gift and new what I wanted to create. A cool DIY macrame wall hanging for the formal living room, a perfect addition to our space, perfect size and the color yarn was perfect too.
A simple DIY, all you need to be is creative; there are no rules. I like to create as I go for a project like this, and if it leads to something spectacular, great. If not I can always try it again. Creating a macramé wall hanging deign is fun and free. Free, meaning its liberating there aren’t any mistakes it’s your creation, and you design it however you like. I wanted to create something special using the driftwood and tried my best to create art freely. I think it turned out cool. I’m not really good at all the intricate braiding details yet!.
Do you have driftwood at home?
I like the longer lengthy look.
I think it turned out pretty cute.
What you will need:
- Two small nails for hanging
Cutting your yarn in different lengths is easiest. I think it helps with trimming to the length you want when your finished. You can create a shape or cut straight; the choice is yours. Once you have cut your yard, wrap it around your driftwood and loop it through Larks head knot. Continue to do this all the way across until you cover the driftwood. If you notice on one side, I added another color and finished it with the same crème colored yarn. On the other side, I added a braid for character and as a filler, to give it more weight. After you’ve done this add two nails to the wall and hang. It was that simple and fun to do. Here are a few pics to help you visualize the Larks head knot.
What do you think? would you like to give it a try? Maybe I can help!.
Here are a few of my favorites.
