ORC Week 6, WOW! Time flew by and now Thanksgiving, then Christmas, yikes!.
The One Room Challenge Fall 2016 “The Diva Den.”
As you all know, in the midst of the ORC challenge I planned, designed and decorated our wedding reception. Yeah, I know it was a lot of work, but so much fun and so worth the hustle and stress. I love how it came together. During the chaos, I was on the hunt for a tile guy. The tile guy I used for my previous challenge, is nowhere to be found, I can’t locate him. My electrician made several phone calls to a few of his friends, but It turns out the herringbone pattern is one of the hardest designs to install. (and of course I would pick a hard pattern), and they want up to $3.50 a square ft for a 750 sq ft room, NOT happening if you do the math that’s a LOT OF MULLAH. I can’t afford that, and I just won’t pay for it. I think I am going to tackle the tile job myself. Wish me luck; I am going to need it for real. Now that you read my flooring dilemma I went ahead and decided to style a section of the diva den. Half of the room is ready for accessories; the other is still housing our tables and chairs from the wedding reception. Lots to do still, but it’s all in the details now, and I can’t afford to get it wrong.
Leave it up to me, I would pick a hard pattern to install, and now most contractors want up to $3.50 a square ft for a 750 sq ft room, NOT happening if you do the math that’s a LOT OF MULLAH. I did order the “futon” aka daybed, convertible. It’s a modern design, and I couldn’t be happier. I was trying to decide if I wanted a sofa or a chaise lounge, but instead, I went with a convertible frame. A party on the futon for sure. Perfect for entertaining, seats 3-4 people and when the back-side is in the down position, it seats another 3-4 people comfortably. Most of the items I incorporated in my design board is coming to life, with a few exception and budgeting on items that would cost a fortune. So instead I found less expensive alternatives, without sacrificing the look I want. I hope you enjoy all my pics and be sure to stop by as often as you like, more updates coming later in the week and hopefully new tile guys. LOL. /:
Let’s take a look at our futon/daybed from Target by Threshold:

I love the sleek lines and the look of linen in the convertible futon. It’s so comfortable and durable. The fabric is fabulous.
Wood Frame Convertible Gray Sofa by Threshold
The price was right, the color and style.
My fireplace turned out exactly how I wanted it. At first, I thought the color would be too bright, and I was planning to paint white.
I’m glad I stuck it out and went with my first color choice, turquoise.
The color is perfect, perfect in #theblueranch
There is still so much more to add to this room, But we are happy with the colors and the look so far.
Be sure to stop by as often as you like, I will post the progress.
I plan to repaint the inside of the fireplace. But we decided to use it and test it first, to make sure the paint didn’t peel off.
It was a success, no peeling paint.
Tree trunks are from our Hawaiian Eucalyptus tree we cut last summer.
I had six logs in my garage and decided two for extra seating would look fab in this space.
Faux plants make it easier for me to maintain.
I love my straws.
The credenza is a vintage record player. My electrician is hoping to get it working. All the wiring and parts are there
I hope we can get it to work again.
I plan to paint that ugly A/C unit black it black.
Candles for mow.
The sliding doors on the left side of the pic are our bedroom.
Will love being able to lounge in this space and easy access to our jacuzzi instead of walking through the house.
Love my faux rug. Went to Home Goods today and I think I found the perfect area rug for this space.
I hope it’s still there tomorrow.
Three pendants hang over the pool table, nd it looks amazing.
